In cosmetic dentistry, “the teeth are the actors and the lips form the stage.” To have actors without costumes or props is the same as having beautiful teeth in an unfinished smile. Recent advances in material science have presented the dental profession an opportunity to improve lip esthetics to complement cosmetic dentistry with minimal risk to the patient. This improvement of lip esthetics using microfillers is referred to as “lip augmentation.” Lip augmentation (enhancement or enlargement) result in a small change in the appearance of the teeth and lips, either with dental, surgical or through non-surgical procedures.
